WHO IS BOB?
Over thirty years ago I moved to eastern Idaho because I love the open spaces. Twenty-five years ago I met Jean and we were married. With our appreciation for outdoor activities and rural living, we bought land in Teton Valley in 1990 and started building our home in 1994. While enjoying the benefits of living here, we have experienced the effects of rapid development in the valley. Because we plan to live here the rest of our lives, I want to serve the community as county commissioner, to actively participate in shaping our future.
My different jobs in both small companies and large organizations as an engineer, a manager and a consultant provide the experience for a leader. I have managed multimillion dollar budgets and hundreds of employees. My thirty years of business experience has taught me the importance of fiscal responsibility. More importantly, I know the value of working cooperatively to solve complex problems and build lasting solutions. Here in Teton County I recognize difficult choices must be made so a strong foundation is built for the future. I will work to understand those challenges, collect information needed for sound decisions, listen to different points of view and make decisions that are fair and best for our community.
My volunteer work with Teton Valley Trails and Pathways and Teton Valley Foundation has shown me how a group of dedicated people can accomplish many significant things. White water boating, mountain biking, skiing, hiking, playing soccer and caving are activities that have taught me a great respect for our natural environment. I worked for years to establish and run the Idaho Falls Adult Soccer Association. Through experience I know hard work and dedication are essential to any task. Teamwork and cooperation are the keys to success.
I strongly believe our community needs to preserve its rural environment while building on the previous county work. Economic opportunities, good roads, sound law enforcement, affordable housing, adequate access to our public lands, preservation of open space and traditional land uses such as farming are important to the community. By working together with a solid vision for the future, Teton Valley will continue to develop while preserving the lifestyle we all enjoy.
