WHY ELECT BOB?

Fair:  I am committed to a fair and equal process in all aspects of county government.  Involvement is important to me. Consensus is important to me.  When citizens express concerns, I will listen and do my best to address them.  I pledge to consider all sides of any issue before making what I believe is a fair decision.

Dedicated:  I am dedicated to the people of this valley. I will gain understanding of the issues through talking to you, participating in community events and attending community meetings.   This gives me information about what you consider important.  Community involvement gives you access to me to express your concerns in an informal environment.

Experienced:  With thirty years as an engineer and manager, I have managed budgets for many projects. I have resolved emotionally charged issues with people of wide diversities and opinions.  In my experience, issues can be resolved with the cooperation, help and sometimes compromise from the involved parties.  I need your help as our issues are not only important to the community but to every one of you as an individual.

Nils The growth in our county is a great concern to all of us. We can address this with a well thought out Planned Use Development (PUD) ordinance.  We need clearer and more definitive regulations which will help developers, residents and reviewers assess the merits of proposed projects consistently.  Our Zoning Ordinances, Comprehensive Plan, Capital Improvement Plan and a Preferred Land Use Map need to be developed and updated as the valley grows.  These clearer and definitive regulations should make it easier for people to work cooperatively and ensure consistency during the planning and review of the development of our valley.  A community vision will form a platform for development, jobs, quality of life and increased property values.

Growth has the added challenge of increased use of public services and lands. This means growth of the infrastructure: schools, roads and road maintenance, health care, law enforcement, waste management/recycling and other services. These changes should be planned and not be the sole responsibility of the taxpayers.  Their costs should be shared by all parties benefiting from the growth of the valley: developers, business owners, tourists, people moving into the valley and current residents.  We want our valley to prosper for everybody.

My commitment to the valley is based on my decision to live here for the rest of my life in a community that values quality of life.  I'm a strong believer in community and that is why I am running for Teton County commissioner.  I want to serve you and keep Teton Valley a unique and special place to live.
